Team 6

Working towards a cleaner Scotland.
INTER is a collaborative project between SGN and Edinburgh Napier University. SGN has employed university students to develop a proposal for their old fuel sites. The team will develop innovative solutions to reuse the old land to benefit the local community, reduce climate change and increase biodiversity. After thorough research, the teams will submit their proposal to SGN for approval. Team 6 is assigned the SGN site at Armadale, West Lothian.

Understanding the importance of implementing native woodland species to increase biodiversity. Recognising the key points in local agriculture, and developing strategies to incorporate this in our project design.

MSc Architectural Technology & Building Performance

I am attending the MSc in Architectural Technology & Building Performance at Edinburgh Napier University. Graduated in Architecture and Construction Engineering, I have always been interested in the connection between construction and environment. The Scottish Government has set ambitious targets for the Climate Change Plan and, with the project promoted by SGN and Edinburgh Napier University, I believe that I can give my contributions. I am excited to participate in this new adventure, where multidisciplinary teams have been set up by Edinburgh Napier University. Thus, the students and I will have the opportunity to discuss and elaborate new proposals having a 360- degree view.

Susanna Cherian

BSc Biomedical Science

I am a BSc Biomedical Science student at Edinburgh Napier University. My passion for environmental conservation and climate change blossomed from a module I studied in my first year. My zealousness to expand my knowledge, and push the limits of creativity, persuaded me to volunteer for this project. Using the skills, I have learned in university, I aim to contribute to this project's outreach and background research. I am eager to work in this dynamic team to trade expertise and devise ideas that encompass this global emergency.

Adam Salmond

BA Photography

Hi! I'm Adam, and I am a student photographer. Having investigated issues of land consumption and industry through my photographic work, I aim to put my natural curiosity in climate change issues to work in this collaborative and transformative project.

Aidan Tobyn

BDes Product Design

I am a motivated Product design student, who is driven by venturing into new grounds to explore unknown parts of the design industry where I can demonstrate my desire to deliver qualitative solutions to issues & work cooperatively with my peers. As a designer, I am always pushing myself to find improvements, solve issues and learn knowledgeable skills from other industries. During my time at university, I have focussed projects based around sustainability and taken influence from brands that are environmentally conscious. Along with this, I have gained an insight into designing and making produce from reclaimed materials to help empower others in the making process whilst engaging in the circular economy.

Armadale Site imageArmadale Site image
Armadale is a town within the district of West Lothian in central Scotland.
The population is estimated to be around 12,500 (2019).
Armadale was a farm village. However, it has always been commercially important, being part of the main route that connects Edinburgh to Glasgow.
This is a fairly large site that was cleared of vegetation recently to allow the completion of the site investigation works. Armadale is a former holder site. The holder has been demolished
